According to Livability, Newport News was named among the nation's "Top 100 Places to Live" in 2014 - #77 to be exact!  Newport News homes for sale

Working with researchers at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, and using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, USDA, Walk Score, Great Schools, Americans for the Arts and others, Livability examined more than 1,700 small and mid-sized cities across the U.S.  

The rankings were based on a variety of factors such as local economics, quality and availability of healthcare, affordability, quality of education, infrastructure, and local amenities such as parks, museums and music venues.

Newport News scored high in the areas of healthcare, amenities and demographics.

Virginia has two other cities that made the top 100 list - Charlottesville at #26 and Richmond at #57.
