Newport News’ premier annual drive through holiday light event opened to the public on November 23rd and runs through January 1st, 2018. Newport News Park is transformed into a bustling holiday scene with over one million lights that form beautiful displays and animated scenes. The two mile drive along the main road of Newport News Park is illuminated with over 300 individual display pieces, 43 arches and three miles of rope lighting. For its 25th anniversary this year, two giant 25’ x 16’ screens will be added to the end of the display and will show animated holiday scenes. The Forest of Lights display area will also feature upgraded LED lights clem-onojeghuo-172144.jpgthat will allow for more complex colors in the trees. The Celebration of Lights is open nightly from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM and admission is $12 per car or $60 per bus (cash, credit cards Visa/MC and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted). Advance/gift tickets can be purchased at the Newport News visitor center. Newport News Park is located at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue in Newport News, Virginia.
