In celebration of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, thousands will gather in the Mariners' Museum Park at the "Pirates Pack the Park Festival" on Saturday, September 21st.
This event is being held to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "Largest Gathering of Pirates". This record is currently held by Hastings, England, with a gathering of 14,231 pirates. The official count will take place at 2pm and everyone dressed in pirate attire will be counted. The results will be announced that night at 7pm at the Pirate Gala.
The Pirates Pack the Park Festival will be held from 10am to 5pm and includes food and beverage vendors, live entertainment, craft and pirate merchandise vendors, authentic pirate re-enactors, and more!
Come be a part of history in Newport News as thousands attempt to break the Guinness World Record!
