Summer in winding down, but there is still a lot of fun to be had in Coastal Virginia/Hampton Roads. Check out this list from Virginia.org of events happening this month:Summer-is-coming...

Hampton - Aug. 7-9 - Hampton Cup Regatta - Don't miss the 90th Annual Hampton Cup Regatta, the oldest continuously running hydroplane boat race in the country!

Virginia Beach - Aug. 9 - Lady Antebellum: Wheels Up Tour - "Lady A" heats up a summer night on their own, but throw in sweetheart heart-throbs Hunter Hayes and Sam Hunt, and you've got a recipe for swoon.

Norfolk - Aug. 15 - Caribfest - CaribFest Festival is an exciting one-day cultural explosion of Caribbean, Latin, African and Folklore music, cuisine, revelry as well as visual and performing arts.

Williamsburg - Aug. 15 - Hands On with American Heritage Chocolate at Colonial Williamsburg - This is your chance to learn how to make chocolate bark and hand-rolled chocolate truffles under the careful direction of our Pastry Chefs.

Suffolk - Aug. 15-16 - Nansemond Indian Tribal Pow Wow - The Pow Wow features music, dance, authentic crafts and food. Free and open to the public, donations are accepted.

Virginia Beach - Aug. 16-23 - East Coast Surfing Championships - Held annually for 53 years in Virginia Beach, the Coastal Edge ECSC presented by Vans is North America's oldest - and WORLD's second oldest - continuously-run surfing contest.

Virginia Beach - Aug. 28-30 - FunkFest - FunkFest - a full-blown three-day celebration with lively entertainment, cultural presentations, children's activities, .food, art, and shopping. FunkFest features music generated over the years by influential legends such as James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, and The Ohio Players.

Virginia Beach - Aug 29-31 - American Music Festival - The sounds of rock, jazz, country, blues, R&;B and more flood the oceanfront for three sun-filled days over Labor Day Weekend. The largest outdoor musical event on the East coast, the American Music Festival brings together local, regional and national acts to play on a gigantic 60-foot wide and 60-foot tall stage on the beach at 5th Street as well as stages in all parks along the beautiful oceanfront.

Norfolk - Aug. 29 - Hot Latin Dance Cruise - Dance the night away while cruising along the Elizabeth River. Dance instruction provided by the Mambo Room.
