Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks Open in Hampton Roads

Nothing says "holiday fun" like going ice skating at an outdoor rink.  Grab your skates, your gloves, and some hot chocolate, and check out one or more of these rinks across Hampton Roads! 

MacArthur Center on Ice

Outdoor ice skating is now in it's 11th year at MacArthur Center in Nskating-1.jpgorfolk. The rink is open for skating, birthday parties and special events. The rink also offers the following specials and special events:

  • Magic Snowfall (Mondays-Saturdays: 6pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm; Sundays: 6pm and 7:00pm)
  • Free Learn to Skate Sessions (with purchase of 10am Skate Admission)
  • Cheap Skate Mondays ($1 off admission)
  • Student Skate Nights ($2 off admission with valid high school or college ID)
  • Skate with the Norfolk Admirals 
  • Figure Skating Exhibitions by Tidewater Figure Skating Club
  • Entercom Radio Station Family Days

Are you a little nervous about getting out on the ice? You can also rent a "Skate Helper" who will help you get ready, out on the ice and teach you some basics. For the little ones there is a Kiddie Rink where they can test out their skills.

When: November 21, 2015 - January 18, 2016
Where: Just outside of MacArthur Center Mall in Norfolk - at the corner of Monticello Avenue and Freemason Street
Cost: Admission is $7 for skating and skate rental is $7 per person (you can also bring your own skates).
  • There is a Military Discount of $2 off the admission price for military personnel and their family members (must show valid military ID to receive discount).

Ice Rink at Tech Center

When: November 24th, 2015 - January 18th, 2016
Where: 638 Oyster Point Road, Newport News, VA
Cost: Admission is $10 and the skate rental is $4 per person
  • There is a Military Discount of $1 off the admission, and discounted group rates when you have 15 skates or more (must make a reservation and pay in one transaction for group rate).

Iceburg at Mid County Park

When: November 20th, 2015 - January 31st, 2016
Where: 3793 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA
Cost: Admission is $7 for resident adults ($9 for nonresidents), $5 resident youth age 5-7 ($7 for nonresidents) and free fir children 4 & younger with skate rental included (you can also bring your own skates).
  • Season passes and Group discounts are available.
