One of my absolute favorite things about living in Coastal Virginia is enjoying the arrival of four distinct seasons.  Having grown up in California, I had no idea what I was missing!  It seems that here, spring happens overnight – and that first weekend is simply spectacular.

One of the telltale signs that spring has arrived each year is the drive into the Oyster Point area of Newport News.  Years ago, Canon Virginia donated dozens of cherry trees to the city, and they now line Canon Boulevard in an explosion of white blooms every April that is not to be missed.

The cherry trees are quickly joined by tulips and daffodils (or buttercups, as my husband’s mother loved to call them) and redbud and forsythia…and, in just a few short weeks, everything is a lush green and the parade of spring blooms is found everywhere.  A brisk walk in the historic district of Colonial Williamsburg is delightful this time of year, to remind us that the chilly winter days are gone for another year, and that a long, lazy summer is just around the corner.

We hope you enjoy this slideshow of photographs taken by our agents to share why they love where they live!
